SQUALL’S DANCE
For requiting their success, Balamb Garden held a magnificent victory celebration for the new SeeDs that night.
In the dance floor, people enjoyed themselves and danced happily together. Nice music, dazzling lighting and graceful waltz…everything was perfect at that moment. However, Squall didn’t seemed to be that concordant to the ambience even though he was one of the protagonists at the dance. He was wearing a suit of brand-new SeeD uniform, standing alone in the corner with a cup of wine in his hand and his back against the wall, watching the sky through the glass ceiling.
“Hah, even as a SeeD, you’re still the same…well, that’s typical you.” said Zell.
He did not reply but drank wine quietly.
“Well then…enjoy yourself!” said Zell and went away.
For him, winning victory meant nothing serious, that was just what he should always do as a SeeD. He didn’t know what could really interest him, so he could not hide the sense of loss even in a noisy ambience.
He kept watching the night sky, until a shooting star fell off in an instant. As if perceiving something, he hung his head and saw a girl in a pretty white dress, standing alone by the dance floor, watching the sky, either. That was Rinoa, a beautiful girl with cute appearance and black hair hung down her shoulders.
When their eyes met, she smiled with her finger pointing at the sky, which made him feel puzzled, and then she went towards him lightly…
"You’re the best looking guy here, dance with me?" she asked. He said nothing but showed silence.
“Let me guess…” she didn’t give up,” you’ll only dance with someone you like. Ok, then…look into my eyes…” she kept rotating her finger in front of his eyes, saying,” you’re going to like me, you’re going to like me, you’re going to like me…did it work?”
Of course he wasn’t interested in it at all, he thought that was only some boring trifling matters and he was not ready to put himself in the crowd, "I can’t dance..."said him,
however, Rinoa insisted to dance with him and said, "you’ll be fine! I’m looking for someone, I can’t be in the dance floor alone!" and pulled him into the dance floor.
Certainly, Squall couldn’t dance, he seemed clumsy when moving. He’d rather stay alone than do this silly thing. But Rinoa held his hands, danced gracefully around him, taught him how to dance patiently...very soon Squall learned it and danced well with her. Their gorgeous movements and the nice music could affect everyone at that moment...
After the first phase of the music, the firework burnt, which shined splendidly in the night sky. They stopped and watched the firework for a little while. At that moment they stood closely in silence. Squall fixed his eyes upon the sky and fell in thought while Rinoa was looking at him. Later, he turned his eyes back at Rinoa, and saw a tiny smile on her face, then she left, left him standing alone in the dance floor, watching the view of her back...
What could he be thinking at that moment? Could he realize that the girl he was just dancing with would be so important to his life from then on? In fact whatever he was thinking, the dance with that girl had already marked his pale life, which would no longer lonely or calm.
